Getting them to visit your website might be the best you can hope for in that case. Crescere un figlio a Berlino

Chi visita Berlino per la prima volta e passeggia per i quartieri residenziali di Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain e Mitte, o anche in quelli più alternativi di Kreuzberg e Neukölln, non può fare a meno di notare l’elevato numero di bambini in circolazione. Che si tratti di neonati in carrozzina e nelle fasce portabebè oppure di bimbi più grandi in sella a una bici, con o senza pedali (qui a Berlino le bici senza pedali si chiamano Laufrad, che vuol dire “bici per camminare”), i bambini sono proprio ovunque. Una domanda sorge allora spontanea: cosa vuol dire essere genitori a Berlino?La capitale tedesca si presenta come città a misura di bambino. Basti pensare ai numerosi luoghi di Berlino pensati appositamente per i più piccoli. Questa apertura della città nei confronti dei bambini si ripercuote positivamente sulla qualità dell’esperienza genitoriale stessa. Non mancano certo gli svantaggi, ma tutto sommato i benefici sono di gran lunga superiori, soprattutto se si confronta l’esperienza di alcuni genitori a Berlino con quella di altri in Italia o in Gran Bretagna. Ad ogni modo, se avete intenzione di fare nascere e/o crescere i vostri bambini a Berlino, è bene che sappiate a che città andate incontro.Essere genitori, così come essere bambini a Berlino, offre molti vantaggi. La capitale tedesca ha innanzitutto moltissimi spazi verdi, sia parchi veri e propri sia parchi gioco, distribuiti in ogni parte della città. Soltanto nel quartiere di Prenzlauer Berg si contano una cinquantina di parchi gioco, in tedesco Spielplatz. Per raggiungere un luogo adatto al divertimento dei propri bambini, un genitore a Berlino non dovrà dunque percorrere grandi distanze: nella maggior parte dei casi lo Spielplatz più vicino si trova proprio dietro casa.A Berlino è assolutamente normale portare i propri bambini al nido a partire dai 12 mesi di età, se non prima. Questo consente ai genitori di tornare al lavoro, se necessario. I costi degli asili sono inoltre irrisori rispetto a quelli di altri Paesi europei. Gli orari di apertura delle strutture variano a seconda della grandezza delle stesse, ma in genere le scuole d’infanzia sono aperte dalle 8 della mattina fino alle 4 o 5 del pomeriggio. Ci sono anche asili aperti 10 o 12 ore al giorno, in modo da dare la possibilità ai genitori di essere più flessibili al lavoro. Inoltre le scuole elementari sono Ganztagsschulen, cioè scuole aperte tutto il giorno. Le lezioni si svolgono la mattina, ma i bambini possono restare il pomeriggio a giocare con i loro compagni sotto lo sguardo vigile di un educatore o educatrice, sempre a vantaggio di quei genitori che devono rispettare vincoli lavorativi.Nonostante il clima freddo, a Berlino i bambini trascorrono tante ore all’aria aperta. Ci sono addirittura asili che portano ogni giorno i bimbi in un bosco, dove si gioca immersi nella natura tutta la mattina fino all’ora di pranzo. Ma anche negli asili tradizionali i bambini escono in giardino o vanno al parco giochi tutti i giorni, già a partire da un anno d’età. Alla scuola primaria durante l’orario scolastico i bambini usufruiscono di due momenti di ricreazione in cui escono in cortile a giocare e a svagarsi. Qui in Germania si dice: «Non esiste il brutto tempo: semmai è l’abbigliamento ad essere sbagliato». In effetti tra i primi acquisti che un genitore fa in Germania ci sono pantaloni, giacche impermeabili e stivaletti di gomma per i figli. A Berlino si esce infatti anche con la pioggia o con la neve.Nel caso in cui le condizioni meteorologiche fossero davvero proibitive, a Berlino esistono però anche tanti luoghi al chiuso per i bambini e i loro genitori. Si inizia con i Kindercafé, dove le mamme ed i papà possono portare i loro piccolini a gattonare in ambienti a misura di bambino, mentre loro scambiano due chiacchiere e bevono un caffè. Per chi non volesse perdere l’opportunità di andare al cinema, a Berlino esiste il Kinderwagen Kino (cinema per passeggini): i film vengono proiettati in orario mattutino, a volume moderato e con una luce soffusa; in sala è inoltre disponibile un fasciatoio. Anche molti bar, ristoranti e negozi cittadini sono provvisti di fasciatoi per agevolare le mamme o i papà alle prese con il cambio del pannolino. Insomma: Berlino fa sì che l’esperienza genitoriale non sia soltanto una privazione. Quando i bambini sono un po’ più grandi possono andare nelle biblioteche per bambini oppure assistere a spettacoli teatrali (in varie lingue) o concerti di musica classica pensati appositamente per i più piccoli. Senza dimenticare gli affascinanti musei, come il museo di scienze naturali o il museo della tecnologia. Importante ricordare che nei musei di Berlino i bambini sotto i sei anni d’età non pagano, il che rappresenta un’ulteriore agevolazione per i genitori stessi.Lo svantaggio maggiore è probabilmente rappresentato dall’elevato numero di bambini presenti in città.
