Ralph Emerson Powe 3rd, writer

Ralph Powe is a native Washingtonian & grand cousin of jazz legend, Dizzy Gillespie, with more than 30 years of writing & production experience (broadcast radio, film & print). Ralph began his writing and broadcast career at the age of fifteen with Pyramid Communications, creating original, scripted content for radio shows that aired in DC including All the Way (WKYS) and Teen Scene (WHUR) He was also a reporter and host respectively for the aforementioned programs. Ralph received a B.A. in Creative Writing from Hamilton College (1991) in Clinton, NY and was a sports writer for the student newspaper (The Spectator) covering women’s college basketball. Ralph’s work has appeared in the Atlantic City Press (poetry) and received an honorable mention in The Washington Post Style Invitational for original content. During his writing career, Ralph has written six feature length screenplays including Throwbacks with George S. Mahaffey (APA/New Wave), written three novels including one published under the pen name, Jack Richter (Kiss Like A Fist/Amazon), and provided script coverage for producers including Miranda de Pencier (The Grizzlies/Northwood Productions) as well as worked as an IMDB credited production assistant and manager on two short films (Real Hipsters of Meridian Hill and H2No) for the 48Hour Film Project and one music video shoot at the oldest ice house in Alexandria, VA. This year, Ralph has recently completed two audiobook narrations (under artist name Emerson Monroe/Audible) and is a writer/editor for FINRA’s BIS Newsletter, a quarterly newsletter. Ralph provides freelance script coverage for independent writers. He is also a baking enthusiast who has perfected a New York cheesecake and some seriously fudgy brownies as featured on his YouTube channel.
